SoundTube enhances Michigan church

LiveSpace’s director of integration, John Henry, recently installed a SoundTube audio system, alongside microphones, a projector and new video infrastructure, for a local church in Lansing, Michigan. The solution has been implemented in the sanctuary’s multipurpose room which caters to various events such as overflow during Sunday services, a gym, a youth room, banquets and meetings.
The client posed three goals for this installation. The first goal was a system that delivered clear, full-range audio for live music, spoken word and video reproduction. The second was that the system had to be user-friendly and intuitive, allowing virtually anyone to operate it without issue. Lastly, the solution had to be cost-effective, and LiveSpace had to ensure that its proposal was competitive, as the project was open to other installation companies.
“All of our solutions need to be high-quality and reliable,” said Henry. “The demo of the speakers in our shop is the main reason we selected the LA880 speakers and LA808i-II low-frequency array. They sound excellent and the price is reasonable. And they look good.”
Henry cited the installation process as straightforward. “The LA880i-II with LA808i column arrays were wall mounted using MM-120HD mounting brackets,” he explained. “There were a few physical site limitations that required us to get a little creative with our rigging for the centre-hung subwoofer above the screen. However, the SoundTube speaker installation was very easy and intuitive. We had no issues and everything mounted and worked as expected.”
The solution also incorporated a Powersoft Quattrocanali 4804 DSP power amplifier, EAW’s SB 180zP, Allen & Heath’s QU-16C, Sennheiser EW-D 835 wireless mics, a Barco G62 video projector with lens, Atlona AT-UHD video switch (HDBaseT Infrastructure), AVPro Edge HDMI wall plate transmitter and Aurora RXT-4 touchscreen controller.
Noting his satisfaction with the SoundTube gear, Henry stated: “My favourite aspects of this installation are that they look and sound good. We were able to meet all of the client’s objectives, and they are very happy. The system sounded very good out of the box and required next to no EQ adjustments when tuning the speakers. The audio fills the space nicely and it looks especially elegant. So far, reliability has not been a factor. It has been super solid.”
